No more Pumpkin Safaris are planned
Here are some pictures from previous safaris:

Badhus Theme: summer squash
The first Pumpkin Safari of the year with 22 participants, starting out with
a summer squash meal along with talks about preparing food using squash and
growing pumpkins and squash . The meal began with a delicious squash soup.
The main dish was a squash and cheese pie, served with two different squash
dishes. We had of course squash bread for dessert. Myra served the food and
talked about preparing the food. Louie talked about growing squash and
pumpkins. He also explained what the different varieties were in the last
picture. Then we all headed out to the pumpkin patch where more questions
were asked and those who desired could purchase what they wanted direct from
the field.

Badhus Theme: spaghetti squash
The second Pumpkin Safari of the year with 38 participants. This time we
started out with Louie's good pumpkin vegetable soup with "barley
rice", which is crushed barley that you cook about like rice. For the
main course we had spaghetti squash with three different sauces, each served
right in the shell. Pumpkin bread was served with coffee. Everyone seemed to
be enjoying themselves. Louie talked about the pumpkins out in the field and
we ended up out in a very wet pumpkin patch, as it rained most of the day.
The participants were however prepared and came with boots and rain gear.

Badhus Theme: raw pumpkin/squash
September 17, 2003. The third scheduled Pumpkin Safari of the year with 23
participants. We started out with with a delicious creamy squash soup,
followed by Chili con Pumpkin, pumpkin salad and candied pumpkin. We
finished with pumpkin bread and coffee.
Everyone had fun out in the field looking at the variation in size, shape
and color of the different pumpkins. Our granddaughter found one just her size to sit
on. Darkness comes fast, so we were limited as to how long we could be out
in the field.

Badhus Theme: Halloween
The last Pumpkin Safari for the season was held. The same delicious menu as
last week was served with the exception that even a real American pumpkin pie
was served for dessert. The theme was Halloween. Myra showed pictures from
earlier Halloween parties and Louie demonstrated how to carve a
Jack-O-Lantern. We had to hurry to get out to the field before it got dark, as
it was already dark by 7:45 p.m. The last participants left the field after
dark.

Badhus, especially for Landskrona Gardening
Society. Contact Kristina Truelsson, 0418-156 00 for details.
The Landskrona Gardening Society had their very own Pumpkin Safari with 28
participants. Lots of questions from experienced gardeners gave way to
interesting discussions. A perfect evening awaited us out in the pumpkin
patch where everyone spread out to find as many unusual pumpkins as
possible. It however got dark fast or many could have stayed out there much
longer.
Pictures from our popular Pumpkin Safari 2002:
Sept 11, 2002. Ekeby Badhus hosted a "Pumpkin Safari". More than 35
people came to taste different pumpkin dishes. All kinds of questions were
answered by "Mrs. & Mrs. Pumpkin", after which we all drove out to
the pumpkin patch. Everyone who wanted to could pick their own. A great time was
had by all.
October 30, 2002 -- Pumpkin Evening at Ekeby Badhus -- 26 people joined us
for a full meal of pumpkin dishes. We started with a pumpkin soup and
ended with real American pumpkin pie. The participants each received a
folder with all the recipes used for preparing the meal. For information
concerning a repeat next year, contact Eva Kristiansson at Ekeby Badhus, 042-790
97 or 070-300 7976.
